Coach Flannigan, and the 9th Grade Coaches (Coach Hahn, and Coach Aldridge), will meet with our football players on (Thursday, Dec, 13th) morning from 7:25 – 7:50 in order to inform our players on how offseason will go. After Spring Break we will change our offseason schedule to Tue., and Wed. our 8th graders will work out at EMS in the morning before school with their 9th Grade Coaches. EMS Update

Hello to all I just wanted to send out a couple of reminders.
First let me say that I am proud of our effort on Thursday. Sometimes things just don’t go your way, and I felt like our kids persevered and never gave up. I am proud of the team spirit that they displayed!
We will work even harder to prepare for Kirksey this week! Also, we will not have a jamboree this weekend, our next and last jamboree is next Saturday, October 27th from 8:30 – 10:15 at RHHS Gates Stadium (Heritage HS Stadium). We are going to persevere and finish strong!
Thank you for your valuable time and support!

Elmwood Raider Football - Weekly Update

Hello, and thank you for such an awesome turnout for our victory over Lingle last Thursday! It was a tremendous effort by all of our players!!! We are getting better every week and working very hard to be our best!! Next week we will be playing Woodland at RHS on Thursday starting at 5:30. It is going to be a great time, and we encourage all to be there and cheer us on! We will not have a 2nd game vs. Woodland, but we are all (White and Green Team) going to be a part of the game. We are having another exciting Jamboree at RHS stadium next Saturday, Sep. 22nd. It is going to be a lot of fun as our White Team players get a lot of playing time and face some good competition. We will start at 8:30 and end at 10:30.   Because we are playing at RHS we will have our players meet us at RHS instead of taking the bus to the RHS Jamboree. We will have our players take their game equipment and jersey home on Friday afternoon after practice for the Jamboree on Saturday. They will just make sure to bring back all of their equipment on Monday.

Next week we will expect our players to complete their Academic Success Sheets. These are designed to help our players keep track of their academic progress in order to be their very best! We stress that school comes first, and that it is highly important to not only complete their school work but to excel.
These are easy to fill out and to complete. It does require a parent signature, a student signature, and a teacher signature. It is the student athlete’s responsibility to check their grades using our online Pinnacle Grade Book feature and to place their grades, any missing assignments, etc. on the sheet. Our students and parents now have access to their Pinnacle Grade Book as they have, or will receive their Pinnacle user name and password. It is a wonderful tool to use in the midst of our busy season and throughout the rest of the school year. These Academic Success Sheets will be due to me by Thursday of next week. It should be plenty of time to complete it.

It is going to be an exciting week as we get better and strive for excellence each and every day!!!!
Thank you for your valuable time and awesome support!!!
Go Raiders!!!

EMS Football - Weekly Update

Hello to all, just a quick note on this weeks practice schedule. We are going to have a short week of practice next week due to our three day weekend. In order to prepare for Oakdale and to make up for the lost practice time on Monday we will go until 6:00 on Tuesday and Wednesday. This will give us some extra time to straighten things out and to become much improved for this week's opponent. We are going to work extremely hard in order to become our best. I am proud of how our team responded today with our workout. We are coming together as a family, and we are going to turn this negative loss into a positive by fixing the areas that we need to improve upon, and continuing to stay positive as we push ourselves to reach our full potential!!
I am still very excited about our team,  and I believe in them 100%. I look forward to them displaying a much improved performance next week as we take on our rival Oakdale!

One last thing to mention is that we have our first Jamboree at Bentonville HS Stadium next week (Saturday September 8th) for our White Team. This is going to be an exciting event as we will play a variety of teams and our players will enjoy a lot of playing time. This is going to be a great time! On Saturday, September 8th we will meet at Elmwood MS at 8am and board our bus and make our way to Bentonville HS Stadium. I will be sending a schedule of the Jamboree home with the players.

Thank you for your valuable time and support!!!

Elmwood Raider Football Weekly Update

Hello to all,  our first official game week is here and our focus and attention is on Kirksey. I am excited about seeing our players rise to the occasion, and meet this challenge. Our players have the hearts of champions and I know that they will shine through! Here are a few things for this week that I wanted to mention.

1. Gameday is on Thursday at RHS at 5:30. We will have a second game after the first game where our White Team players will have a great opportunity to get more playing time vs. Kirksey. We have 6 second games scheduled throuout the season.  As I have said before we are all on the Green Team and we will participate in the Green Team game at various parts of the game. The only difference between a White Team player is that he also participates in the White Team games and they are going to have a great time as they will have extra opportunities to get more playing time theoughout the season.

2. We are going to have our pre game meal at 3:30 during every game day. We are only asking for $5.00 per meal and we ask that we have that money by Wednesday, and earlier if possible. Your athlete can turn that in to Coach Hattier, or Coach Tebbenkamp.

3. I have submitted the apparel orders for our Elmwood Raider Football Gear and they should be on shortly. As soon as those items arrive I will email everybody.

4. We are taking our Team Pictures on Tuesday and we have given our players the order form for our Team Pictures. We have only a couple of these turned in so far, so please remember to turn those in with the money attached by Wednesday, or earlier if possible. They will take their team picture in their white game jersey and game pants? Please tell your athlete to bring their game pants to school on Monday so hat they can keep their game pants in their football locker and have them ready for the team picture. We have issued out our game pants for he season n your athlete is responsible to take care of heir game pants throughout he season by washing them after each game and of course not losing them. If they lose their game pants they are costly to replace so we ask that you simply help your athlete take care of them.

5. Thank you to Mr. Necessary, and to Mrs. Phelps for providing us with some great pictures of our Green vs. White Scrimmage. I am going to upload those to our Team Flickr site, and all will have access to these throughout the season in order to make prints, etc. All parents will have access to this account for no cost if they simply reply to the invite email. I will be sending this invite email very shortly. You can view all of our pictures by visiting www.mountiesfootball.com, and by clicking on multimedia, and then Photo sets. Elmwood has several sets of pictures for you to view, and if you log on using the invite log on information you will be able to access them.

6. One last thing, we are looking for a video camera person for this Thursdy to film our game. Our regular video camera person will be back next week, we simply need this week covered for video taping our game. If anybody is interested please contact me. I can fill you in on all of the specifics, it is actually a simple job. This will be a big help or this week.

7. It is going to be an exciting week, and I am ready to see our players shine on the football field!! We look, forward to,seeing a lot of green shirts as we support our Elmwood Raiders on Thursday!!
Thank you for all of your time and support!!

8. Here is our revised White Game Schedule for the Saturday Jamboree Games. The only changes that have been made are for the following games are

Hello to all, and Saturday is almost here. Our Annual Green vs. White Scrimmage on Saturday from 6:00 - 7:30 pm at RHS Stadium is going to be the most exciting event in Benton County!! We will not take the bus to the stadium, so parents will take their athletes to RHS Stadium. Please have them their by 5:45 so that we can complete our warm up and stretch routine.

We have been working very hard and all of the hard work that we have put in will be displayed on Saturday. The cheerleaders will also be there to cheer us on.
We will have a cool game program that we will pass out as well that will list the athletes names and numbers, etc. I promise to do my best on the correct spelling of each name for the program.

Weekly Information

Hello to all, and what a great time we had at the First Annual Father Son Super Bowl. It was a valiant effort on both sides, but in the end the Men ruled as they took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, as well as the overall trophy.
We really need some of the fathers to go back to the 8th grade for one more year of eligibility. It would help us out and definitely give us an edge. Just kidding. I was impressed with the efforts of all who participated last night!
Thank you to all who brought food and drinks!!! It was an awesome ten out. The food was outstanding, and the fellowship was great!!! It was awesome to see everyone come together and cheer our fathers and sons on!!!

Here is a list of updates for this week. ---------

1. This weeks practice schedule is from 9:00 - 11:30 am. Monday through Friday. Once again this weeks practice schedule is from 9:00 - 11:30 am. Monday through Friday. It is very important that our players commit to our season as we prepapre to be our very best! We will be in helmets, shoulder pads, and shorts on Monday through Wednesday,  and then Thursday will be our first day of full pads.
We will have plenty of food and water in the locker room to keep our players refreshed and energized throughout practice. We will have plenty of accessible water  on the field as well, and anytime that a player needs water they will simply go and get some water. Ankle braces are always a good thing to wear as they are a great preventative measure. We do have put ices arriving shortly and we will have enough for all of our players, but if your child does not currently have one they are available at Wal Mart for a couple of dollars. We will need them probably by Thursday as that is the first day we will be in full pads.

2. An exciting event that is on the horizon is our Elmwood Raider Football Introduction Night at RHS Stadium on Saturday, August 18th, from 6:00 - 7:30 pm.  We will have a great time as we introduce each player to our parents and fans, and play a scrimmage to showcase our progress. It is sure to be a lot of fun, and a great experience for our players!!!

3. Our team pictures will be on August 28th, after school.  I  included an order form in the packets that you received at our parent and player meeting last Friday. If you were unable to attend the parent  and player meeting then no problem, we will send a packet home with your child this week. this packet has our schedule, player guidelines, and order forms for team pictures and also team apparel. Please fill them out and turn them in asap.

4. We are using Team Graphics for our t shirts, long sleeve shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, and decals. The deadline for ordering from Team Graphics is August 23rd. I am trying to get these items in for our parents and fans prior to our first game. So the earlier the deadline the quicker they will arrive.

5. We are using 316 Sports for our yard signs, hats, and decals. The dead
One for ordering from 316 Sports will be August 15th.  Using 316 Sports is a great option for us because it allows us to offer other items such as yard signs to our parents as well. The yard signs are front and back.

6. Now on to the paperwork. This is not the most exciting part of what we do throughout the season, but it is very important. We must have all required paperwork turned in for the season. We have a list of athletes who have all of their paperwork completed and turned in,  and if for some reason your child needs to have something turned in we will remind them this week. Please turn them in asap. The 3 pieces of paperwork that we must have turned in are ---
- Completed Physical with Medical History Form
- District Rules Acknowledgement Form
- Concussion Form

7. Lastly, I forgot to bring my camera to the Father Son Super Bowl on Saturday, so if anybody has any pictures at all that they took can you please email them to me. I will upload them to our Team Flickr page.

8. I will be sending an invite to all parents join our Team Flickr page for free in a few days. This is a great tool for parents to utilize throughout the season, and to create pictures, collages, post cards, etc. using your child's pictures.

****Thank you again for all of your support and valuable time!!!!
This is going to be a special season, and we have an incredible group of young men!!! I am excited about the 2012 Elmwood Raider Football Season!!!

Thank you all again for all that you do to make Elmwood Raider Football so special!!!!

My grill should set us up good, but if anyone wants to bring their own grill that is totally fine as well? A suggestion may be to bring a lawn chair. Along with this exciting event you will be able to see the awesome new training equipment that we have available for our players to use this season, our newly stocked weight room, last year's championship trophy, our championship banner that is hanging in the gym, and our super cool poster sized showcase pictures from last season that are now hanging up in the locker room that you can now view. This year's team will also have their poster sized moments of victory showcased for next season in the locker room. There will be lots of good food, and great, friendly competition as the men show the boys how the game of football is supposed to be played. Jusk kidding, the younger generation might just show us how to play. Fathers, uncles, grandfathers, older brothers are all welcomed. This will work out great because we have our parent and player meeting on Friday, August 3rd from 6:00 - 7:00 pm, so we can build up a little bit of hype for the Father Son Super Bowl Game and Cook Out festivities on Saturday, August 4th. ****Here is a list of items that people are bringing thus far........ 1. - I will bring a grill, some plates, and eating utensils. 2. potato& macaroni salad for cookout 3.,Cupcakes 4. We have gotten a very positive response in regard to the Father Son Super Bowl Game and Cook out. It is going to be a lot of fun!  However, there are several parents who have prior engagements on that weekend. It will be the same time from 6:00 - 7:30 pm if that still works for everybody. This will work out great because we have our parent and player meeting on Friday, August 3rd, so we can build up a little bit of hype for the game! I apologize again, but I think that it will work out better for everybody. ****We can start a list of items that people are willing to bring. 1. - I will bring a grill, some plates, and eating utensils. 2. potato& macaroni salad for cookout 3.,Cupcakes 4. GENERAL PHILOSOPHY

The X's and O's in football are fun to think about and play an important role in game planning, but the X's and O's alone will not win a football game. There are other key elements that we believe have great importance to the success of our team. As coaches it is our job to provide motivation, establish discipline, and instill character in our student athletes. We strongly emphasize our Core Values of Team, Hard Work, Truth, and Serving Others. These values strengthen our efforts to shape and mold our players into young men of character. With these attributes in place, each player will have the tools that they need to succeed in school, on the football field, and in life.

As Elmwood Raiders we place a high level of importance on our educational achievement. We acknowledge that our education is an invaluable tool that must be obtained for future endeavors. Our student athletes are expected to place school achievement as a top priority. We expect our players to not only complete their class assignments, but to always strive to reach their full potential as students.

In our pursuit of educational excellence we will complete our Academic Success Sheets throughout the season. These sheets will provide our players with accountability and encouragement to maintain a high level of academic performance throughout the football season.

Parent Information and General Principles

1. Core Values - Team, Hard Work, Truth, Serving Others
2. As Coaches we sincerely care about our players, and we strive to  help them reach their full potential.
3. We believe that there is no I in Team. We are All For One, and One For All.
4. Our goal is to work harder and more efficiently than any other 8th grade team in the State of Arkansas. We value the principle of reaping what we sow.

5. Our players are expected to be leaders in school and on the football field. In order to uphold this expectation any misconduct will be addressed at the Coach's discretion.

6. We believe that positive reinforcement of the performance of your child and our team is always better than negative reinforcement. It is important that our parents help to provide a positive, encouraging environment for our players to thrive in.

7. If your child is unable to attend a practice due to illness, or a doctor's appointment please inform Coach Hattier by email or with a phone message.

8. Football is such a fun, exciting, rewarding sport to be a part of, and we want our players to love the game of football. We want our players to play with excitement, enthusiasm, and passion.

PLAYER EXPECTATIONS
1. We expect our student athletes to be leaders in the school, and on the football field. This includes respecting Teachers, Coaches, Administration, and Parents. This also includes giving 100% of our efforts in the classroom in order to be the very best student that you can be. Academic Success Sheets must be completed throughout the football season.

2. We believe that there is no I in Team. We are All For One, and One For All. Always put the Team before yourself.

3. Our players are expected to be leaders in school and on the football field. In order to uphold this expectation any misconduct will be addressed at the Coach's discretion.  Represent your Team with Class and Character.

4. Our goal is to work harder and more efficiently than any other 8th grade team in the State of Arkansas. We value the principle of reaping what we sow.
Always play with 100% of your energy, devotion, and focus. It is extremely important that you attend football practice every day. This is vital to the success of our Team!

5. Cursing or foul language is unacceptable. We will always use appropriate language.

6. Our players are expected to maintain a well groomed haircut.

7. No earrings are allowed in the school or on the football field.

8. Maintain a clean locker room.

9. Always take care of the equipment that we issue to you. Do not lose or damage this equipment as it is costly to replace. It is the responsibility of the player to replace any issued item that is damaged or lost.

10. Be on time to all classes and practices.

11. Pay attention to Coaches and follow directions. Be alert and aware of what is going on.

Great Opportunities for Parent Involvement
***We need help in the following areas. We are grateful for any assistance that you can provide. Please contact Coach Hattier, or Coach Tebbenkamp if you would like to serve in any of these areas.

2. Chain Crew

3. Gate Workers

4. Help with picking up our Chick Fil A dinners before our games.

5. Score keepers.

6. Video Camera Workers

7. I always try to have snacks in the locker room for our players as they transition from the classroom to the football practice field in order to be re energized and fueled for practice. In the pursuit of this it is always helpful to have parents volunteer to bring snacks throughout the season.

8. End of the Season Football Banquet Committee.

POINTS OF EMPHASIS FOR SAFETY
*** We have access to great trainers at RHS (David Roller, and Jesse Herrington). If for any reason your child needs treatment, or needs to be evaluated please utilize this valuable resource. They can see your child during the morning before school, or after school.

Heat Illness
Rogers coaches want to ensure that no player suffers from any kind of heat illness during summer workouts and fall practice. There are many things that can be done to ward off heat illness.
- Players need to spend as much time outside this summer.
- Players need to attend summer workouts.
- Acclimating to the heat is crucial.
- Eat breakfast before summer workouts / practice - Toast, Oatmeal, Fruit, Gatorade, Water.
- Drink water all day every day. It will be beneficial to give up soft drinks.
- Drink water during workouts and on breaks.
Concussions
- If your child is not feeling right or complains of a constant headache we will have him see Jesse Herrington.
- Concussion Standard with Mercy.
- Roughly a 5 day turn around for a mild concussion.
MRSA
- Please visit  http://www.cdc.gov/MRSA/ groups/advice-for-athletes.html
- Showering every day and maintaining cleanliness is an important step to preventing MRSA.
Other Preventative Measures
- In order to maintain a clean locker room environment we ask that our players take home and wash their practice jerseys, and practice pants every Wednesday of the week.
- Throughout the course of the season we will clean our lockers, pads, and helmets.
- If at all possible we encourage our athletes to purchase ankle braces. This is an injury prone area and wearing ankle braces will significantly reduce the chance of injury.
- Eat healthy food throughout the day, and drink water throughout the day.
Your child will burn a lot of calories throughout the course of the season, and it is important to replenish those calories with healthy food sources. This allows your child to play at a high level throughout the season.

Elmwood Raider Football Flexbone Camp Schedule

Hello to all, here is our schedule for our Team Flexbone Camp on Thursday Friday, and Saturday. This is going to be an outstanding time as we have fun and learn the finer details of our offense from some of the best instructors  in the nation! I have also included our list of Flexbone Camp commitments. We have spent money for this camp for our players to attend at no cost so it is important for our players who are on the commitment list to attend in order to take full advantage of this opportunity that we have provided. If a player is on the commitment list and they do not attend then we have simply wasted the money that has already been spent for that player to attend.     It will be a full schedule so eating good, nutrient dense foods and drinking plenty of water throughout the day will definitely be a plus. For lunch I will have plenty of sandwich making items for the players and snacks, etc. If you would like for your child to bring their own lunch and snacks that would be fine as well. We will have plenty of breaks and shade in the indoor practice facility. We will have several water breaks to keep our players hydrated as well.    I definitely understand that some of our players also have basketball on Thursday from 10 – 12:30. No problem, and we will definitely work around that. A good alternative for those athletes who also play basketball would be to attend the Flexbone Camp from 8 – 9:30 on Thursday, and then arrive back at 12:45 or 1:00 and finish our team time. It will be done at 1:30 on Thursday so it shouldn't be too rough on the basketball players. Thank you for all of your valuable support!!!! Go Raiders!!!!! Flex Bone Camp Schedule Day 1 9:00-45 – OL 9:45-10:00 - WR/Slots 10:00-45 - WR/Slots/QB/FB 10:45-11:15 – Team 11:15 – Break and Eat 11:45 – Film 12:15 – OL to field 1:00 – All Skills 1:45 – Team 2:30 – Finish Day 2 8:00-45 – OL 8:45-9:00 - WR/Slots 9:00-45 - WR/Slots/QB/FB 9:45-10:15 – Team 10:15 – Break and Eat 10:45 – Film 11:15 – OL to field 12:00 – All Skills 12:45 – Team 1:30 – Finish Day 3 8:00-45 – OL 8:45-9:00 - WR/Slots 9:00-45 - WR/Slots/QB/FB 9:45-10:15 – Team 10:15 – Break and Eat 10:45 – Film 11:15 – OL to field 12:00 – All Skills 12:45 – Team 1:30 – Finish

Elmwood Raider Football - Team Penny Camp this Thursday from 9:00 - 10:30 am.

We are excited about our Team Penny Camp on Thursday at RHS! The time has changed to a shorter time frame. We will just go from 9:00 - 10:30am. The cost is only one penny. It is going to be a lot of fun and we will combine Kirksey and Elmwood. We will be wearing shoulder pads, helmets, shorts, and cleats. For the shoulder pads and helmet we will ask that if the parents are able to do so that after our Mad Day workout tomorrow / Wednesday that they swing by Elmwood briefly and pick up their helmet and shoulder pads. We will have coaches at the Elmwood locker room to check out their equipment. They will take the equipment home and then bring their shoulder pads and helmet to our Team Penny Camp on Thursday.      If parents are unable to come by Elmwood to pick up the equipment on Wednesday then no problem, we will have the equipment at RHS on Thursday morning for them. We just ask that they arrive at RHS a little earlier at around 8:30 in order to pick up their equipment.     Thank you for your time and help! Your student athletes are working very hard and having a lot of fun! I am very proud of all that they done this summer! Have a great day! Coach Hattier

We will have a MAD Day workout tomorrow / Friday during our normal time frame.  Next week  we will have our MAD Day workouts on Monday through Wednesday during our normal time frame, and we will have our Elmwood Football Team Penny Camp on that Thursday– (Time is TBD – Probably 10:30 – 12:30  at the RHS Football Field House)  ****Cost is 1 penny, No need to sign up, you will simply attend this camp.****       I had a couple of parents ask for the list of our summer events. Below I have placed this information along with our easy to follow  instructions for each event. I have made a slight change to the week of football practice on  August 13th - August 17th. Elmwood Raider Football - Weekly Update

We had a great time for our first week of MAD Days Workouts! Our players are working hard and improving each day. Next we will have an awesome time attending our Middle School Football Camp on Wednesday - May 30th, and Thursday - May 31st from 10:30 - 12:30 at the RHS Practice Fields. This is going to be a great time for our players!  If you haven't already signed up you can do so by simply filling out the Mad Days sign up form if you have it, or by printing a copy by visiting www.mountiesfootball.com (Camps Section). You can also get there by simply clicking on this link -  http://www.mountiesfootball.com/files/MSCampBrochure12.pdf The only equipment needed for this camp will be their black practice shorts, their green practice shirt, a pair of cleats, and a pair of tennis shoes / athletic shoes. Our players will receive an RHS Camp T shirt as well.  Next week our only work out days are Wednesday and Thursday for the Middle School Football Camp. If your child would also like to attend the MAD Days Workouts on those days that is optional. It will just make for a longer day  that would be from 8:45 - 10:15 for the MAD Days workout and then from 10:30 - 12:30 for the Middle School Football Camp. I definitely would like for our guys to attend the Middle School Football Camp, so if they simply want to attend the Football Camp from 10:30 -12:30, instead of doing both then that is certainly ok.  The  cost is $20 for the Middle School Football Camp. If for some reason funding is not available please let me know and I will take care of it. I simply want all of our players to be able to attend everything that we have going on this summer, and I don't want any player left out.  I had a couple of parents ask for the list of our summer events.
